Sonic goes to Specsavers
Specsavers and gaming… Not an obvious combination to many!
But when we attended the UK’s biggest gaming convention, the importance of investing in eyes and ears became quickly apparent to many gamers!
We know gamers invest heavily in expensive kit to improve their gaming experience, as performing their best is a non negotiable, but they often overlook their own eyes and ears.
And that’s where Specsavers jumped in.
Our stand at the convention aimed to not only educate gamers about the importance of having their eyes and ears regularly checked, but also promote healthy gaming habits for those who love regular and lengthy gaming sessions.
And whilst many gamers spoke to us about their passion for gaming, the new Sonic Superstars game (which we were demoing at the stand with 1680 minutes of play taking place) and their quest for greater immersion and competitive, they were also open to hearing about the real dangers of blurred vision and hearing loss – after all, what can’t be upgraded needs looking after.
One keen gamer said, “gaming and eye health go hand in hand, but I’ve never actually realised it until I saw it brought to life today”, whilst another commented, “It’s good to see a brand take responsibility for this type of health messaging”.
So, whilst, the connection wasn’t obvious from the off, by the end of the four day event, we’d won many gamers around, with the Specsavers presence being called ‘a wicked partnership.’
EGX may be over for this year but it’s only the beginning of our quest to engage gamers. We’re ready to play again!
